Mayor's Alliance Transports Move into High Gear!

The Mayor's Alliance transport van program continues to increase dramatically the number of animal transfers from AC&C to other APOs.

The Mayor's Alliance transport van program continues to increase dramatically the number of animal transfers from AC&C to other APOs.

The animals are on the move in New York, with the Mayor's Alliance transport van hitting the road more than ever. Since January 2006, the transport program has moved approximately 450 animals (averaging 150 each month) out of AC&C shelters to other Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) dedicated to finding them new homes. More than 1,500 animals have been transported through the program since January 2005.

As you might expect, most of the animals hitching that all-important ride are dogs and cats. But the van also has transported a variety of unexpected critters — sheep, hens, roosters and bunnies — to the waiting arms of rescuers who will find them permanent homes.

We expect these transports to continue at a rapid pace, and hope to increase the program's capacity in order to save even more lives. If you or your company is interested in being a sponsor of this life-saving transport program, please contact us at info@AnimalAllianceNYC.org, or call (212) 252-2350.
