Out of the Cage!
Winter 2007 - Volume 4: Issue 1
Welcome to our Winter issue of Out of the Cage!
We're pleased to report that Year Three of the Maddie's
Pet Rescue Project in NYC is off to an energetic start. As you'll
read in this issue, the Mayor's Alliance dubbed February "I
Love NYC Pets" month, and our participating member organizations,
including Animal Care & Control, went all out to increase adoptions
throughout the month and gain momentum that will carry through 2007.
You'll also read about ASPCA®
Mission: Orange™, an exciting initiative of the ASPCA,
a founding member and important supporter of the Mayor's Alliance.
ASPCA® Mission: Orange™ takes the spirit of cooperation
to a national level, and will focus on strengthening animal welfare
efforts in targeted communities throughout the United States.
A year and a half has passed since Hurricane Katrina
devastated the Golf Coast region and resulted in the largest animal
rescue effort in our country's history. We are delighted to include
in this issue a special feature article on the progress made by
the Louisiana SPCA, not only in
beginning construction on a new shelter facility in New Orleans,
but also in turning the challenges of the rescue effort into opportunities
to create a lasting positive environment for the region's animals.
These and other articles await you in this issue.
We hope you'll enjoy reading them. And we thank you for your continued
support of our programs through your interest and your contributions.
As always, we welcome your comments at info@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.
